Hong Kong Science & Technology Park's Kids Discovery Day: Exploring Technology and Green Innovation through UGOT Robot Interactive Experiences

As artificial intelligence, robotics, and digital technology become increasingly integrated into our daily lives, finding ways for students and children to engage with technology in a more concrete and interactive manner has become a key consideration in promoting AI, digital, and STEAM education. Compared to learning about new technology solely through textbooks or videos, hands-on operation, observation, and task-based problem solving often make it easier for young learners to understand how technology connects to the real world.

Recently, Parami AI, the parent company of EDU A.I., participated in the Kids Discovery Day held at the Hong Kong Science Park (HKSTP), providing interactive technology experiences for over 70 children and teenagers from HKSTP employee families, as well as from the charitable organizations Caritas and Po Leung Kuk.

Robotics competitions: engaging with technology through play

During the event, Parami AI hosted Planet Action Venue. In addition to demonstrations featuring four UBTECH UGOT robots, the event allowed participants to operate and test the robots themselves. This not only showcased the full capabilities of artificial intelligence but also provided attendees with a fun and exciting exploration of technology.

Many children actively participated in the various interactive sessions, exploring robotics and technological applications through games and hands-on practice. The organizers later described the event as an "eye-opener," noting that the sharing of technology and green innovation gave participants the opportunity to think from different perspectives about how technology can help build the future.

For participants, understanding artificial intelligence or robotics does not necessarily require starting with complex theories. By observing robot movements, operating them firsthand, and participating in tasks, children and teenagers can first build curiosity about technology, and then gradually grasp concepts such as programming, sensing, and mechanical control.

This experiential learning approach is a common entry point for schools promoting STEAM education: first showing students what technology "can do," and then guiding them to think about the underlying principles and how to use technology to solve problems.

From one-off experiences to school-based AI and STEAM education

Many schools are currently exploring how to promote AI and digital education more systematically. Beyond using AI teaching tools in the classroom, schools can also engage students with artificial intelligence and emerging technologies through robotics workshops, STEAM activity days, interdisciplinary projects, and experiential activities.

Especially for primary school students or those new to technology, low-barrier, interactive, and life-relevant activities can help build engagement before gradually extending into learning content such as programming, AI application, problem-solving, and creative design.
